Nokia 5.4 Review: Nokia’s Latest Cut-Price Handset with Excellence

Nokia 5.4 is the company’s recent flagship with quite noticeable specs in a cut-rate value. The 5.4 is its latest strategy to recover a bit of the sheen that Nokia obsessed, in the cheap arena. While choosing up the Nokia 5.4, the plastic edges and back do not inspire the users. As many other top-ends that offer glass build which looks premium and eye-catching. On top of this, on the front, you’ll get a 19.5:9 feature ratio display, a blow-hole front snapper. Plus, a ‘Nokia’ logo is also on the show, making it a much universal 2021 handset at heart.

This Nokia handset offers some good specs at a low price tag that inspires us as it comes with a large 6.39-inches display, 48MP hefty rear camera, and inspiring battery that last for two days. It also offers you a 3.5 mm earphone jack and loud and clear sound-producing speakers. The back is a bit more daring, with a pretty blue ascent in the ‘Polar Night’ model we reviewed.  When the light strikes the rear, it produces decent colours. However, it’s not phones that stick out on-road but a handset that sticks up to the gravity of daily life.

The Nokia 5.4 uses a 662 Snapdragon chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The storage here may not be enough for many users if they already used 128GB or 256GB storage phones. The 662 Snapdragon chipset offers a connubial of efficiency and performance. This chipset can run almost all heavy apps. Though coming with 4GB RAM, it can also ensure fast internet downloading speed with smooth scrolling and browsing. While it is not a top-end, the performance is decent to play games and watch movies at this price.

Its price begins at just AU$329/$249.99 / £159.99. It offers two colour variants: Blue and Purple named Polar Night or Dusk. This model comes in just one spec variant that gives you 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Though the storage capacity and RAM are limited here, it will be okay for that price tag.

The standard Nokia was well known for build factor. However, it didn’t even make the most elegant or classy phones. This brand had a status for creating phones that could bear every crack, shock, and smash without any wincing. On the other hand, the Nokia 5.4 has made with strength, if not utter sharpness, as an objective. The Nokia 5.4 comes with 181g weight; it is the moderate weight that most of the handsets offer. It can easily handle by one hand, and inclusive mass inspires buoyancy. It is well-proportioned too, which makes it easy to use with one hand. The display here is 6.39-inches which is a large screen.

On display, you will get punch-hole snapper and below this is a quiet Nokia emblem. On the right side, you will find a lock button and a volume rocker. While on the left, there is a google assisted button. On the top edge, you will get a 3.5 mm earphone jack, and on the bottom, you get a USB-C port. The USB port is here to charge the phone or data transfer. Unfortunately, the Google Assistant key on the left side can’t remap to an extra valuable purpose. Despite the plastic rear and frame, the Nokia 5.4 looks well-build, though not exceptional. This phone is available in two colour variants, purple and blue, called Polar Dusk and Polar Night.

The Nokia 5.4 comes with a 6.39-inches LCD screen which is proficient. The LCD screen offers a bright and lively view of the phone. Thus, it vies well with full sunshine, and it signifies hues well if a bit cool for our taste. Everything is well and good then, excluding when the query of the rivalry rises. Though, if not all, but most of the rivals of the Nokia 5.4, particularly from Xiaomi, give 1080p display.

Though that display of Xiaomi comes at a somewhat lower or the same selling point, while the Nokia 5.4 display is decent but at 720 x 1560p resolution, it falls behind the competitors on the marketplace. The Nokia camera app looks as clearly inspired by the Google Pixel camera app. Camera modes are designed and simple; it will not ever be a fence to rapid photo capturing. A peculiarity is the existence of a ‘cinema’ option, which means to permit more control over video recording.

Though, its battery life is the section that inspired us. The Nokia 5.4 comes with an average 4000mAh battery that is normal in this price tag. But its performance is not so usual. Despite having a 4000mAh battery, it easily standby by for one entire day with heavy use. It may go for another day with light use. On a heavy use like continuous movie watching, internet browsing, and playing games for many hours, it will get you through an entire day. It would be best if you plugged it in before going to bed with heavy use.
